Dr. Hemikaa Devakumar is fellowship trained in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. She treats a variety of pelvic floor disorders such as prolapse, incontinence, overactive bladder and some bladder/ pelvic pain conditions. She combines evidence based practice and minimally invasive advanced surgical techniques that allow patients to regain their quality of life.
Dr. Devakumar grew up in India and moved to the United States, after training in the United Kingdom. She graduated from the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Atlantic Health, NJ. She was the administrative chief resident and was named the Resident of the year of her graduating class. After obtaining a solid foundation, she completed her fellowship from the world renowned Cleveland Clinic. During fellowship, she gained expertise in minimally invasive procedures for treatment of prolapse and overactive bladder, including neuromodulation and botox injections for the bladder.
Dr. Devakumar is excited to move to Phoenix. She enjoys listening to her patients and formulating a treatment plan that is specific for their needs. She offers a number of conservative and office based options for improvement of urinary incontinence.
Aware of being in an evolving specialty, Dr Devakumar has been actively involved in research. She has presented in national and international meetings and has published her research in peer reviewed journals. She has written book chapter and is a reviewer of Urogynecology journals.
When she is not working, she enjoys baking, cooking, traveling, being physically active and spending time with her family.
